leopard skirts

Leopard is having a moment right now. It’s likely filling your instafeed everyday. It’s hard to say it is a trend, because animal print is always in vogue in some way, but it is all over at the moment. I secretly hate when leopard resurges because everyone starts wearing it. But I also love it because I can take my leopard obsession to a whole new level.

Leopard print is my spirit animal. My favorite outfits have a pop of it and some of my favorite pieces of ALL time are leopard. I have loved leopard print as long as I can remember. A leopard inspiration board was actually my very first Pinterest board years and years ago. I have two aunts who love leopard as much (or maybe more if that is possible) as I do. I can remember swooning over their leopard clothes, jackets, and blankets as a little girl. I think that’s where it all began. Fun fact, the first item of clothing I bought for bb when I was pregnant was a little animal print onesie. And the rug in her nursery is leopard. My very favorite bag (actually my favorite item of them all) I have ever owned is a tiny leopard Dolce & Gabbana crossbody that we bought on the island of Capri on our honeymoon. So I will happily and fully embrace the leopard revival going on this fall. All my old favorites are back out and I have added a few new pieces to my collection too.

Before I share my leopard picks, I have a confession. Instagram has this annoying habit of making you feel like you have to buy new clothes, shoes, bags. etc. at every moment. There is a new trend and every single blogger on the gram is buying it and you start to feel like you have to too. But that is unattainable for most of us and not what I want this blog to be about. I want to follow trends and post about them, but I don’t want to contribute to any negative feelings that can go along with the whole blogging thing. So I am going through a love/hate thing with instagram and all of social media at the moment. I love clothes and fashion and think it is the coolest form of artwork on the planet, because we get to wear it everyday. So I am going to keep sharing the trends I am loving, outfits I am crushing over and where you can buy things (if you are in the market). But more importantly, I want to inspire you to go back into your closet and find a new way to wear something that might be lurking in the darkest corner of your closet that hasn’t seen the light of day in years. That leopard print dress you almost purged last season? Bring it back out! The fanny pack (currently called belt bag) your grandma gave you? Throw it on with a pair of pumps and skinny jeans. Maybe you see the leopard leggings I’m wearing and are reminded of an old pair of animal print leggings you wouldn’t have thought to bring back out.

I LOVE blogging, I love creating outfits and keeping up on new trends, but Instagram, fashion posts, and this digital age we live in with one click purchases can be stressful and even wasteful. So I promise to try to keep my fashion posts to the types of buys I think are timeless, pieces that are worth your investment and can be worn over and over again and will not be a casualty in your next closet purge 3 months down the road. I will always source the best deals for you and clue you in on the best sales around the web. And when I share an outfit, I hope it inspires you to create a new fun outfit that speaks to your own personal style and maybe even encourages you to step outside your box a little!

Leopard and animal print in general are timeless in my humble opinion. My closet is fully stocked with leopard items I have collected and curated over the years. I mean, only leopard print could get me feeling so deep about the meaning of life (I mean blogging) and which direction I should head next ;). This longwinded rant was just meant to say, check your closet before you buy something new, girl friend!

There is so much leopard out right now, and far too much to cover in one post, so I will start with my favorite leopard purchase so far this season, my $29 Target skirt! I cannot stop wearing it. For those of you that love that extra bit of drama in your wardrobe and are looking for a new addition, I would go with a leopard skirt! There are sooooo many awesome ones out right now and a skirt is so versatile. Showers, vacation, date night, dressed down with a band tee, you name it. So that’s my current pick taking all things leopard into consideration! And here are my favorite’s right now…

you can expect more leopard on the blog soon 😉
