meal planning + my favorite healthy snack options

Anyone else love a good rainy morning? I am sitting here sipping my coffee listening to the thunder while bb sleeps in and meal prepping for the week. It is the perfect slow morning to kick off my week.

Blake’s busy season is over so we have been slowly working our way through out house getting it back in order. Cleaning out storage, closets and our kitchen is seriously a form of therapy for me. We are mid kitchen clean out and realizing how much crap we have in our pantry. We are purging all the bad snacks and starting fresh!

We have been slacking in the healthy snack department and it needs to change. Whenever we are eating healthy + trying to eat from home more, both Blake and I seem extra hungry and need filler snacks throughout the day. If our pantry and fridge isn’t packed with healthy options, we end up snacking on the bad stuff.

In terms of meal planning, we are sticking to basics this week + bulking up our healthy snack options. Including healthy snacks for bb. So I included a list of all our favorite snack options below! Here is the lineup this week!

BREAKFASTS

smoothies

yogurt (trying to eat more of this, but tbh, I have to force it down, I have never been a big fan of yogurt)

LUNCHES

tomato + mozzarella + avocado + lemon

chicken salad

avocado toast + egg

DINNERS

salmon + veggies (going to try to up our salmon intake every week to get at least two full servings a week, usually we only have 1 serving plus a little leftover)

salads (I have a ton of lettuce leftover right now, so going to get creative and do salads all week long, I will share the best combos on instastories!)

SNACKS

orange + walnuts

apple + almond butter

fresh veggies + homemade tzatziki

berries

bananas

cantaloupe

almonds

1/2 sweet potato (I bake a couple sweet potato at the beginning of the week and eat a half when I need a healthy snack throughout the day)

1/2 avocado + lemon + salt & pepper

raw cacao nibs

coconut bark

homemade organic popcorn

STORE BOUGHT TODDLER SNACKS

freeze fried fruit

kale chips (look for low or no sodium)

frozen blueberries

apple slices + peanut butter

orange slices

chopped nuts (I feel like this is weird one and most kids do not like nuts, but bb LOVES them)

cheese sticks

turkey roll up (I get whole foods low sodium deli meat sliced thick, then I roll it up and it’s the perfect handheld snack)

snack packs

apple sauce pouches

*banana (bb is allergic but had to add this because it is the perfectly portioned snack for a little one!)

*LESS HEALTHY TODDLER SNACKS

wholewheat crackers (bb is obsessed with the Annie’s cheese crackers)

raisins (the mini raisin packs are always an arm’s length away in case of toddler meltdowns and emergencies!)

cereal

HOMEMADE TODDLER SNACKS

squeeze packs (I used to be so ambitious and make my own snack packs with all kinds of healthy ingredients…I keep saying I am going to get back into that habit – when I do I will share my favorite recipes!)

mini muffins (there are millions of these recipes floating around the internet, but HERE is a great one without banana)

yogurt bark (bb LOVES yogurt, but it is a messy snack – so I freeze it and make it into bark, recipe HERE, so easy to do)

GROCERY LIST
