the cat eye trend for less

Sunglasses are one of my favorite fashion items because one fun pair of sunglasses can change your entire look. The cat eye look is classic, but it has been reinvented throughout the decades. This season, it is back with harsh corners and a super edgy + sophisticated feel!

Mini sunglasses are everywhere this year. While I am not ready to hop entirely onto the mini sunglasses trend, I give the mini cat eyes a major YES! We can all thank Balenciaga for bringing this look back to the runway a couple seasons ago, but with a modern twist. When retro meets modern, I am a happy girl. This modern take on the classic silhouette is flattering on everyone. Plus, cat eye’s add the perfect amount of drama to a simple outfit. There is just something about these sunglasses that make me want to wear bright red lipstick, a plain white t and a 1950’s head of curls, don’t ask me why. Maybe it’s the retro vibes or the Wendy Peffercorn in me? These sunglasses can glam up even the most basic look.

But I get this look isn’t for everyone. Every time I ask Blake to take a picture of me in mine, he says “really?” with an appalled look on his face. Men, sometimes. Blake always seems to hate the super trendy pieces in my wardrobe. But he is going to have to get over it because they are likely to be on constant rotation this spring and summer! My favorite way to wear them so far is definitely the all black look (shocking), but they come in just about every color out there, so grab the pair that fits your style best!

This is a trend that works dressed up, dressed down and even on the beach! I cannot wait to wear these on the beach next week in Florida. I just bought THIS pair of aviator meets cat eyes and I am already mentally styling them with a scarf in my hair and cutoff shorts! The best part about this trend, the knockoff and cheap options are endless. The PAIR I am wearing is $19. Sure, I want THESE Celine’s, but with something so trendy, I try to stick to the cheaper end of the spectrum. So I rounded up my favorite cat eye sunglasses ALL under $100!
