Winter essentials

Winter in Chicago is not for the faint of heart. It is cold and it is LONG. As a mama in the city,  we are outside every.single.day. We walk everywhere and go to the park, rain, snow, or shine. BB LOVES long walks, so she spends at least an hour in her stroller every day. Because we have the right gear, I can honestly say that BB has never seemed to notice or mind the cold. Most days, I want to jump into her snuggly stroller with her. When prepared, winter is absolutely my favorite season of all. For our first winter with the baby, I went all out. I bought every furry hat, snowsuit, and snow bootie on the market. Some still sit in their boxes, others were crap, but, there were a few items that we never left the house without. These are the five items we could not have survived this winter without.

1

A crazy warm and snuggly footmuff. A footmuff if basically a sleeping bag for your stroller, and I want an adult version.

2

A fluffy snowsuit, because everyone loves a baby snowball.

3

A lighter-weight snowsuit for “warmer” days.

4

Stroller mittens. The first month of winter I was constantly leaving the house without gloves. After the baby was bundled, I was always in a hurry to get out of the house. These mittens stay attached to your stroller and they are a godsend.

5

A crazy cute teddy bear hat. Many days, the attached hood just was not going to cut it, so a heavy duty hat was a must for those bone chilling types of cold.

PS now is the time to buy wintergear…it is all on sale!
