]]>BUT, on a brighter note, the baby and toddler selections this time around are insanely cute. I am the most excited about bb’s purchases! Last year, the kids stuff was ok, but this year it is amazing! Last year some of bb’s cutest clothes came from this sale, so I really stocked up this year. I mean, how could I not get this jacket and this one. This top is already one of my favorite things in bb’s closet! And the price of this three piece set is insane! These baby boy jeans, I die. And this two tone jacket, the cutest ever. These pants make me want a boy. And I am pretty sure every little boy should own this top.
So here are all my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for your little ones! Click HERE for my Jacket + Shoe roundup from the Sale and HERE to shop the rest of the sale!

]]>bb just had a major growth spurt, like grew a whole foot (not really but it feels like that) and she outgrew allll of her shoes. So as I surf the web for her spring shoe lineup, I thought I would round up all my favorites for you! I will start by saying that bb definitely has too many shoes for a toddler that grows out of them so quickly. But when it comes to tiny shoes, I have no will power whatsoever. At any given time, I always like bb to have these four types of shoes:
1
sneakers
Since she started walking, I have replaced THESE three times and I plan to continue replacing them for all time.
2
combat boots
Same goes for boots. Zara ones are my all time favorites and I have replaced them twice. The ones bb currently has are sold out but I love THESE. But now I am thinking bb and I NEED to twin in THESE pink Dr. Martens!
3
sandals
Old Navy makes my favorite sandals. They are reasonably priced and actually stay on her tiny feet. THESE sold out in her size but check back soon, they might restock them!
4
fancy *er
Events come up where bb needs fancier shoes more often than you would think. So I always have a pair of nicer shoes in the closet for when that kind of event comes up. And when I say fancy, I mean fancier than combat boots and sneakers. bb will never be the child in the super fancy shoe, sorry mom.

]]>It’s officially that time of year again, time to upgrade your outerwear. Enter the cutest and coziest jacket trend of all time, the faux fur teddy. The teddy jacket trend might be my ALL TIME FAV. Both cozy and cute, this is the snuggliest fashion trend ever.
Unlike other jacket trends this season, like pricier shearling, the teddy jacket is actually affordable and the choices are endless. I love how this jacket can be worn with sneakers and your coziest leggings, over a mini dress for girls night out, or paired with heels and your favorite jeans for date night. And there is a silhouette for every body type – the aviator, bomber, oversized, peacoat, and even floor length. I found THIS blush teddy during the Nordstrom anniversary sale and knew I had to have it. It is my very favorite thing that I own right now. I love it so much that I do not think it can be my only teddy this season, so I️ just bought THIS more neutral and oversized teddy from Topshop.
Now combine a furry fashion trend + an opportunity to match with my mini and I️ am in heaven. Tiny teddys are popping up everywhere and it’s the cutest thing ever. BB’s is from Zara, linked HERE. But HERE, HERE, and HERE are other super cute Zara ones. BB and I️ can be found roaming the streets of Chicago in our matching teddys from now until the flowers start to pop up next spring!

]]>The post How to create a fall wardrobe for your mini appeared first on But First Koffee.
]]>
Does anyone else feel like dressing your mini is like having a real life barbie? It is one of my favorite parts of parenting. Fall is my favorite fashion season, so this year it is EXTRA fun because I have a little mini to outfit, too! But, sometimes I go a little overboard and buy way too much. So, here are some tips for how to create the perfect wardrobe for your little fashionista. Plus, the cutest fall picks from around the web, below.
(1) Pick a color scheme
Let’s be honest, if it was an option, BB would own every single item of baby clothes on the market. But, that’s not reality so let’s get back down to earth. The goal is to create a functional, adorable and versatile wardrobe without going overboard. So picking a color scheme and staying somewhere within that works wonders. If everything in your child’s closet coordinates, you can mix and match in countless ways. BB’s entire wardrobe is basically black, white, grey or pink with some leopard print thrown in.
(2) Quality over quantity
We’ve all bought those baby clothes that looked cute on the rack then fall to pieces the moment you put it in the wash. Don’t make that mistake. I would rather pay $40 for a pair of quality shoes than $10 for a pair that falls apart after one wear.
(3) Think basics + layers
In Chicago, fall usually means major temperature swings. It’s been soooo hot so far this fall, so BB has been mixing some of her new fall pieces with summer favs. Like THIS adorable new leopard dress and her (my) favorite summer sandals. But season after season, the items that get worn over and over again in BB’s closet are her basics (t-shirts, jeans and leggings) with fun layers. This fall, BB will be in cute boots or sneakers, basic leggings, tops, and a jacket!
(4) Accessorize
I understand we are talking babies here, but hats, bows, and belts are not off limits.
(5) Shoes, shoes, shoes
I swear, BB takes 1,000,000 steps a day. She needs quality, cute, and comfy shoes that can keep up with her.
So, here is what you need to outfit your little for fall…
JACKETS/VESTS
I am just going to go in order of importance here. Let’s be honest, a fall wardrobe is only as good as the top layer. Most days, what is seen in an outfit is the outer layer. So, invest in great jackets. BONUS, it seems like babies fit in jackets for SOOOO much longer than other items of clothing.
SHOES
BB almost never wears “fancy” shoes. She lives in booties and sneakers. I cannot wait to see her in her combat boots this fall! Also, god bless the investor of velcro. If a shoe has velcro, I find it hard to resist.
TOPS
Is there anything better than a basic and cozy cotton t-shirt? Nope, didn’t think so.
SWEATERS/SWEATSHIRTS
I love BB in a cute and cozy sweatshirt. She is going to live in those this fall. I will also throw a cute sweater or two into her wardrobe for occasions.
BOTTOMS
Stretchy leggings and jeans are golden but I couldn’t resist a few skirts, too. And don’t forget some tights!
DRESSES/SKIRTS
So my mother does not disown me, maybe buy a few dresses or skirts for your little one.
ACCESSORIES
It’s fall, so in Chicago we are going to need hats and scarves.

]]>I love when I can dress BB like a mini adult, and sneakers are the perfect way to do that. Even better, they are practical, comfy, and most of them can be thrown in the washing machine.
Here are my ten favorites for fall, ranging from crib walkers up to toddler sizes!

]]>Blush, velvet, moto jackets, shearling, mules, and over the knee boots are all here to stay this fall, so it is time to stock up. The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is here and shopaholics are rejoicing all over the world. If you’ve been living under a rock or need some extra encouragement, this sale is extra special (cue eyeroll from my husband) because the sale items are new for next season and will go back to normal price after the sale ends. So, let’s get shopping.
What used to be a manageable sale, now has a HUGE and overwhelming amount of items. Before you hit the racks, come up with your game plan. I always know that during the Anniversary sale I am going to buy a couple pairs of shoes, a jacket, and some sweaters. So, that is where I start. I wanted to get some sunglasses this year or a new purse, but to be honest, I was very underwhelmed by the options. But, it is also a good time of year to stock up on some basics you know you are going to need to buy come fall. I needed a new pair of leggings, leather pants, and workout pants, so those went in the cart too. The baby options are limited but AWESOME. I was hoping to find an adorable outfit to post of BB, but the options in the store were very limited. But the online options are SO good! I am dying inside over the shearling moto jacket I got for BB. It needs to be fall already so she can wear it. If you are pregnant, you are in luck. This year they have some awesome maternity finds! The year I was pregnant, not so much.
In my mind, this sale basically kicks off Fall fashion and I could not be more excited about it. Hate me if you want, but I really do not like summer style. I love sweaters, jeans, boots, and most of all, jackets. I do not think you can own too many jackets. In the fall and winter, no one sees what’s under the jacket most of the time, so your top layer must be great. Thanks to the Nordstorm sale, my fall wardrobe is well underway!
So, I rounded up some of my favorites from the sale. Happy shopping!
SHOES
mules, over the knee boots, and anything blush are what you will see this fall
JACKETS
cozy into moto jackets, shearling (YAY), and double-faced wool jackets for chilly weather
TOPS
cozy knits, knots, and fun sleeves are all over the sale
BOTTOMS
leather, statement denim, and balloon shorts are necessities this fall
BASICS
thank god, athleisure is still acceptable street attire
BABY
brands like Stuart Weitzman, Sam Edelman, and Widgeon are making mini versions of their best sellers…which makes this mama SO happy
MATERNITY
Ingrid & Isabel, a maternity staple, is on sale, so stock up preggers!

]]>Zara has some amazing pieces for Fall and now is the time to stock up. I rounded up some of my favorite pieces for Fall for mama and baby. To be honest, we might keep Zara Baby in business. About 75% of BB’s wardrobe is from Zara. Their sweatshirts are so cute and the clothes actually hold up. I cannot wait to see what they come out with for Fall.
BB and I made out like bandits at the sale and we will be in head to toe Zara for the foreseeable future. Everything we are wearing is sadly sold out, but there are so many good finds left!
Now that BB is running around, it is near impossible to get her to sit or stand still for pictures. So, I have resorted to bribery. On our way home from music class we stopped in for the BEST scones in all of Chicago. I actually thought I hated scones until Meg McMillin clued me in on Bake. If you have not been, it is well worth a trip.
