Holiday Wrapping Paper Inspo

I get WAY too into my wrapping paper theme every year. I start thinking about it in September and have it purchased long before I start my Christmas shopping. I want everything wrapped and waiting under the tree by mid December so I can enjoy it for a couple weeks before everything is opened! Sometime around July, when I find sparkles under my couch from Christmas past, I tell myself I am not going to buy anything sparkly this year. But time after time, I find that perfect sparkly paper or ribbon and I MUST have it. Then I curse myself for the next 6 months as I find sparkles EVERYWHERE. But a girl’s gotta have some sparkle. So here are 5 steps to the perfect wrapping paper theme!

(1)

GET INSPIRED

Whether it’s the perfect window display at Macy’s, an image from pinterest, or your bffs wrapping paper theme from last year that you’ve been crushing over all year, find some inspiration to get you started. I usually have an idea of what I want to do and then surf pinterest to find some more inspiration. See this year’s inspiration HERE.

INVENTORY WHAT YOU HAVE

Wrapping paper is expensive, so go through your stash and see what you have that you can work with. I had a huge roll of plain white wrapping paper and a bunch of ribbon I wanted to incorporate into my theme.

(3)

PICK A THEME

I knew I wanted to stay neutral (to make use of my white) but I also wanted it to be girly and bright this year. This is the first Christams in about 5 years that animal print has not been my theme, but I thought it was time to switch things up ;).

(4)

ADD A POP OF COLOR

I decided to keep my tree semi neutral this year, and did not add too many of my red ornaments. So, it was the perfect year to use blush as my pop of color! Whichever color you pick, don’t go overboard. One roll of your “pop” is the perfect amount. Remember, the magic is in the mix, not the match, so don’t be afraid to throw something in there that mixes it up a bit!

(5)

ADD SOME TEXTURE

If your paper is sparkly or textured, then stick to silky or matte ribbon. Try the opposite if your paper is matte. All of my paper this year, with the exception of one roll, was flat. So I added some yarn, tulle, and sparkly ribbon to add some texture. I do not like doing name tags, but I like adding some charms to the boxes anyways. This year, The Container Store has the best assortment or snow flakes, stars and pom poms to top your boxes! I linked my favorites below.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

xoxo
